Snail farming in the UK

There is a distinct lack of information about snail farming in the UK available on the internet. What links there are to UK information on the few pages around give a page unavailable/404 error, it's very out of date or there's something wrong with the site.

At the time I made this site, I was finding the same. I started this website to collate together the information I found about snail farming. I was thinking of going into business farming snails myself. For various resons, I decided not to go ahead.

I have removed my e-mail address as I am just getting lots of spam to it and I can't really answer questions on how to become a snail farmer, I am just an amateur who became interested in raising snails myself when I went to France on holiday in September 2003. Every time I asked for escargot, nowhere had any. Apparently they can't get enough to satisfy demand. They can't grow enough of their own and import over 90% of the 40,000 tons they munch their way through.

I'm leaving the website here as a resource for others until the domain name expires at the end of 2007. Even though it's out of date, it may give you a starting point if you want to look into snail farming.
